Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Denver's state anthems, which are well-known, have drawn many people newcomers to Colorado. G. Take Me Home Country Roads was the top solo achievement after having performed alongside small folk ensembles. The song was written and produced by Bill Danoff. Danoff created the song using Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver heard an early version he knew right away the song could be the next hit single. The artist recorded the song only a few days afterward after performing it to an enthusiastic audience in Washington D.C.
