April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball stars who won medals during multiple Olympics. Alix-Klineman will be competing with April Ross Tokyo to win her third gold in the next couple of days. Ross is determined to earn more than just her first Olympic medal. At 39, it may be her last shot. But she's convinced that the top awards are in reach. If we perform at our very best or even if we do well, I believe we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. In addition, I'll try some luck. Ross was born on August 22, 1982, in Costa Mesa California. She resided in the area with her family. While at Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of different sports. As a prep-athlete she played indoor volleyball and track. While she did well at indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her skills were above the average. In her college volleyball season as per her college bio, she was a middle-blocker, outside-hitter and setter. For her efforts she was named in 1999 as the Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. The year 2000 was the time she received her the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Ross and Klineman may have started working together at the beginning of 2017, but Ross was an experienced volleyball player before they came together. Actually Ross has been a winner of several important tournaments throughout her career along with her two teammates. One is a volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years between 2007 and the year 2013. Also, she coached Klineman and herself. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who took home the title of world champion together with Kessy in 2009, also was a major force on world stage. They took home a Silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team along with Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she announced her retirement. Both went on to win the bronze beach volleyball trophy at the Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. In high school and the several years prior to hitting the sand as a pro Ross was a ball with the Trojans of USC as an NCAA. Her career was a success through college. She was an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she experienced a devastating personal setback, but she was able to be a second All-American. The last two years as a member of the Trojans team the team was led to success by winning two the national title in consecutive years. The individual accomplishments of her have established her place as a legendary volleyball player. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross was a student of international relations at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mom Margie was not able to witness Ross rise to the top levels of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross lost her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to cherish her mother who died. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her both at and off the beaches.
